How to feed a family, 2018, digital print on paper, ink on paper, cast porcelain, cast earthenware, laminated wood, dimensions variable

In a domestic re-visitation of Sol Lewitt’s instructional concepts, I enlarged and reproduced the recipes my grandmother sent with my family when we immigrated from Romania. My own hand-written recipe cards can be taken by visitors. The cards serve as gallery paraphernalia, locating baking on the same level as contemporary art and proliferating inter-generational knowledge exchange. The recipes are translated into English and the measurements are converted to teaspoons – they are comprehensible but the act of reading and interpreting them is an act of labour.
The number of eggs each recipe calls for are cast in porcelain.
